POSTCARD FROM MASSACHUSETTS! Thursday, June 19, 2003 GREETINGS! We are having a terrific time today, especially since it DIDN'T RAIN! Began with all meeting up at Christ Episcopal where we ate breakfast and packed our sack lunches before departing for an hour drive to Mystic Seaport. We had so much fun at this 3-dimensional museum filled with REAL clippers, barks, and huge ships -- just like the Nina, Pinta, Santa Maria. Again, we were able to walk into actual buildings with staff who represented the person they were portraying from the early 1800's. We saw a blacksmith actually working his heated iron, a printer typesetting and cask makers constructing barrels. There were rope making demonstrations, de-mything pirate lore and a great new exhibition about sea dogs. Lunched in the picnic area and took some time to SHOP! Hopped the bus for a 2 hour ride to Boston. Henny Regnier (Corrina's mom) is in Boston where her parents live to celebrate her mother's 80th birthday. She met our bus at Harvard Square and gave us a walking tour of the University where we saw lots of smaaaaaaarrrrrrt people. Haaaaaaarrrrrvaaaaaarrrd would be a great place to learn! Took a great scenic ride through streets of Cambridge to our great hotel in Medford were the kids are now going spastic in the pool having a ball. They only have a few more minutes before having to get into their own rooms and be QUIET!! How long do you think it will take us to get that all straightened out???? Wish us luck! Still having a great time............keep checking out the latest photos on www.wisconsinchildrenschoir.org. Before I forget, and in case I don't have another chance to get on line and if this should be my last postcard, we will be arriving at Bethany United Methodist Church Monday night, so that's where you'll need to pick up the kids. It is my intention to give families a call when we're into Wisconsin to give you about an hour's notice that we will be getting in. Til next time, SUE |
