Day 6 - Charleson

It's sooooooooooooooo hottttttttt! And what a busy day we had!

We got to see the results of how successful the sunscreen had been applied the day before. A few burnt cookies, but all seem to be able to handle it. Aloe has been rubbed in and a number of bra straps were hanging off the shoulders. Yeah, nice look, but felt better anyhow.

We sadly left Hilton Head and our great families with the breezy beach and pool. Off on the highway we cruised to the Middleton Plantation just outside Charleston on the beautiful Ashley River. The original Middleton Plantation house had long been destroyed, but the beautiful gardens and fun stable yards are open for viewing at your own pace. Our time there was just an hour due to a wrong turn, but we really got a nice feel for the operations and how things were way back then.

Grabbed our lunches on the bus and ate as we cruised into Charleston. That was a trick making some peanut butter and jelly while bopping along the curves and bumps. Whew! All fed, and continued watering

Charleston greeted us with 97 degrees with heat index of 109! Mighty sizzly day. Bus pulled up to the curb right on time for our carriage ride only to be told that the bus could not disembark passengers at that location, and by the way, where was our permit? Permit?? Tracked that down and found where we needed to be dropped off, hustled up to our carriage ride for a great tour of historic Charleston including Rainbow Row, the Battery and other beautiful sites. Sure glad we didn't have to walk on that tour!

Unfortunately, our tour bus could not park closer than 3 blocks from the church, so Chris made 2 excruciating trips between the bus and the church with the uniforms and other gear. Ugh!

Kids were at St. Philip's cooling down, rehearse and pizza dinner, then to dress and perform in this incredible church. Margaret started this concert a bit different due to the phenomenal acoustics in the Sanctuary. Ave Maria in the Narthex preceded the processional of We Are..... Really neat.

Hooked up with homestays now - do you think they've turned into bed by now? Doubtful!

Hope you're all checking the website!

Wonderful day, really pooped........zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Til next time,
