POSTCARD FROM TORONTO – JUNE 18, 2006

A great day in the bus – and a good one NOT to be having a 2 hour walking tour of Quebec since it was supposed to be the hottest day of the year! We hiked up to the bus pick up spot about 4 blocks away, hauling all our bags (which seem to be getting bigger, especially since we grew the economy in Quebec City quite nicely!). Jim got to us with our Badger coach right on time, we loaded up and pulled out within the 10 minute window the drivers get to stop in the loading zone. Picky, picky, picky!

Apparently everyone was well rested and no naps needed since the request to play the movie was made before we hit the freeway. 2-1/2 movies later, we arrived at the lunch picnic stop at the Ontario Welcome Center. That’s where many of you received phone calls on Father’s Day. PB&J for hopefully the last time!

Movies, movies and more movies. A few snoozes all around the bus, and a mid-afternoon break. Then more movies and into Toronto. Jim got us to our Brampton Fairfield Inn quite easily and efficiently. Unwound, unpacked and back on that bus to dinner at a local chain, Swiss Chalet. Food was pretty good, mostly because it was nothing that we’d been eating for the past few days, but service was pokey. Bussed back to the hotel where kids got to play on the THREE STORY WATERSLIDE! Wow! Made the change in hotels worth it! Our rooms are spacious and comfy, and a bit of a step up from the hostel (although we’re definitely NOT complaining about the accommodations there). Especially great to have an ELEVATOR!

Strong chlorine will make it especially easy to close those lids tonight!
