Postcard from Cheyenne Wednesday, June 20, 2007 Today was definitely Nebraska day! From Omaha to Cheyenne, except for about 35 miles, it was all Nebraska! Hot, too, but a great breeze and some shady trees at the rest areas. When we met up with our kids at the pick up location, yep, definitely lots of talking and sharing about the great hosts they had been with the night before. Such friends and hospitality we found with the Nebraska Choral Society! Joining us in the audience were some relatives, too. Laura's aunt was there and looked like about half of Becca's family too - including Mom and Dad from Madison! That was a special treat! It was a four movie day, a few naps, some nice leisurely rest stops and we pulled into Cheyenne right on time (thanks to Captain Jim) to a great welcome at the First Congregational Church. The Cheyenne All-City Children's Choir Director Diane greeted us and we basically had the run of the church from the best equipped bride's room where Chris S. was busy letting down some hems and ironing out the creases, to a great youth room complete with pool tables in their cooler downstairs! Wonderful lasagna dinner with a great selection of salads and fruit for all of us. No doubt this hit the spot! Some sound checking in the Sanctuary, getting all glammed up and ready for performance. Margaret had the kids well prepped for the anticipated heat in the Sanctuary (no AC and it was 100 degrees in Cheynne today!). First the Cheyenne All-City Children's Choir sang a song, using a blend of choir kids, some from last year and some new kids that had just finished up their camp workshop. Then came Chorale and they sang their hot hearts out! Such troopers! Following the concert, a lovely reception was held in the Fellowship Hall....some great molasses cookies and this amazing banana split cake-y dessert! Wow! Our hosts were also a blend: some from the children's choir and some from the First Congregational Church. Their warmth (in more ways than one) in sharing their church and their homes and food was really special. Thank you, Cheyenne!!
