POSTCARD FROM FRESNO

Well, we hear it’s hot in Madison and you have a bit of humidity?  We have you beat in temp:  105 here when we arrived; but we have ZERO humidity!

Happy Birthday, Mary Kate!  Sweet 16!!!

Said goodbye to fun San Francisco, the clam chowder in the sourdough bread bowls, the HILLS, the gorgeous bay and bridge, and our nice youth hostel and headed down the highway.  But first thing this morning we split into different interest activities.  After breakfast, a few kids went shopping (back to Coach dude and other places of business that were interested in our kids' $$$), one group went to see the infamous Lombard Street – the crookedest street anywhere – and the rest took a walk down to the marina at the bottom of Fort Mason.  Everyone had their share of steep hills and steps.  Just a great time and a great location for this hostel.  We got back from our outings, got our stuff packed up and out of the rooms, made our lunches to eat later on the bus, and hit the road for Fresno.

A 2 movie drive later and we arrived in Fresno, found a KFC and Wendy’s, ate our dinner and then drover over to Wesley United Methodist Church where our head host, Elizabeth, came out to greet us and pointed us to the direction of where we needed to land.  Kids did a quick warm up and a few run throughs, and then on to dress for the concert.  A quick Happy Birthday call to Anna Wall, who shares her big day with her sister!

Into the Sanctuary for a wonderful concert.  Even though the kids had a couple of days off, they really stepped up and came through for their very appreciative audience at Wesley UMC.  Margaret’s daughter-in-law’s parents came from their home about one hour away to see her and hear the choir sing.  We had about 30 others in the crowd, and Chorale hit a homerun!

After the concert, they quickly changed out of their concert attire, walked into the Sanctuary and there was a surprise birthday cake for Mary Kate!  And this time the audience people got to sing to her!   Yummy snack and the kids took off for their hosts.  I’m sure we will all sleep well and soundly tonight!  Great job, Chorale!!

Til next time,

Sue
