Toledo Letter

POSTCARD FROM TOLEDO!   TUESDAY, JUNE 16, 2009

Hardly seems possible that only 14 hours ago we were all packing the bus and getting comfy in our home away from home for the next 9 days!  But, only 383 miles and 7 hours later we arrived to the waving and welcoming Grandparents Szalkowski/Sawyer, Aunts, Uncles, Cousins and the wonderful people at the Church of St. Andrew United Methodist Church!

Margaret and Team WCC had plenty of time to have a nice warm up and sound check in the Sanctuary, we had a wonderful dinner of sloppy joes and macaroni and cheese, kids had some unwind time and then into concert attire.   Meanwhile, the church parking lot was filling up – we had an audience of about 125 people who came out on such a nice spring night to enjoy the performance.   And for almost 1-1/2 hours they were so appreciative, and quite a few misty eyes when “Lord Bless You and Keep You” wrapped up.

Not only did they welcome us with their presence, we were treated to a lovely reception following that gave everyone a chance to visit before they whisked off the kids and their luggage for a night on the town in Toledo.

Check out the website and click on NYC/Philadelphia link for our itinerary and linked photos and videos.  Our techy dad Chris has been posting the photos as we head on down the turnpike.

We have to take off early tomorrow for a long day on the bus, but our always dependable driver Jim is prepared, ready and fortified to take good care of us.

Til next time,

Sue
