Bismarck Postcard

POSTCARD FROM BISMARCK, NORTH DAKOTA - Thursday, June 24, 2010

Another l-o-n-g driving day, and with an hour lost for time change, we depended on our Mr. Dependable Captain Jim to get us there, and thankfully we had solid Interstate driving today. A few stretches down to one lane, but for the most part extremely uneventful. We got off to an early start from our fantastic Bozeman hosts. I need to make special mention of our friends and family who made it to the concert: Ann & FuYang had long time family friends, Anna & Sean had Aunt and Uncle, and Emma had family friends in the audience as well. Groupies!!!

More incredible, incredible scenery. Breathtaking and awesome. Movies, naps, movies, lunch, movies, cleaning bus, movies, talking.....558 miles worth! We arrived just slightly later than scheduled, but plenty of time for warm ups, and a wonderful dinner grilled special for us and thankfully for our master grill-tender, the thunderstorm blew over. Two years ago when we were performing in Bismarck, we had tornadoes in the area. Is it something we said???

Our church friends at Lord of Life Lutheran Church were marvelous hosts and terrific audience members. We are so grateful for their commitment to host us at the very last minute. Without their help, and other hosts like them, we couldn't possibly do these tours. Appreciation for them opening up and generously sharing of their time, food and homes. GRACIAS!

Concert was fabulous and starting to get a little more sad, knowing we only have one more to go before we say so long to our seniors and tour will be winding up. The kids are singing like pros, the rookies no longer need their music for the special pieces just learned for tour and the rough spots have been smoothed out.

All kids are in their host homes, safe and sound and hopefully getting a good night's sleep!
