POSTCARD FROM FARGO & MOORHEAD - TUESDAY, JUNE 15, 2010 Like clockwork we pulled out of Bethany this morning at what now seems a full week ago. Why be so pooped tonight? I don't know exactly what caused our eyelids to be so heavy, but perhaps a short night last night, rain off and on the road, cozy Badger Bus, and now in our third state for the day. Our bus driver, Captain Jim, did a dandy job of getting us up through Hwy 12 to Wisconsin Dells (to which was heard from the back of the bus: "HOW DID WE GET TO THE DELLS ALREADY!?!" ) and then through St Paul/Minneapolis before finally stopping after 5+hours just shy of St. Cloud for our lunch stop. There we almost timed it between cloud bursts, but the rain drops saw us back onto the bus in good speed. Sure felt good to stretch out and experience the wind of the prairie! Great rest stop on the banks of the Mississippi River that we knew was just past those trees, but couldn't see. Three hours later and we pulled into our welcoming Grace United Methodist Church in Moorhead where we hung out until the FOURTEEN pizzas were delivered - only a scant 1-1/2 remain! A wonderful rehearsal where, in spite of the tiredness, points were made, creases ironed out and fine tuning took place. Was really good to have all 33 voices together for a change! Those last rehearsals were hit and miss!! We picked up our odds and ends, back onto the bus for a 10 minute ride to our lovely hotel where kids are in their rooms, stretched out, perhaps taking in a few minutes of World Cup and enjoying themselves. First day almost under our belts and anxious for the performance and audience tomorrow night! Don't forget to check out our website for uploaded photos! www.wisconsinchildrenschoir.org All's well from the North Dakota Prairie....til next time, SUE |
